The Subsea Production Engineering Course provides an overview of all of the key processes, technologies and equipment that comprise contemporary subsea production developments. It focuses on how subsea hardware, pipelines, riser systems, and other equipment relate to design philosophies and how to establish a basis for subsea production system design. It also provides details of actual project activities, from the drilling of the well to bringing the system into production. Lectures are complemented by a plant tour to establish familiarity with specific hardware items.
Course documentation will be provided on a CD and it will be necessary for all attendees to bring a laptop to the course.

The Centre now boasts brand new £18 million facilities, including plenary capacity for 2000 delegates in our refurbished Boyd Orr Hall. AECC also boasts two new 565m2 suites and has extended the capacity of its existing auditorium from 300 to 440 delegates. Twenty new break-out rooms provide additional, flexible meeting space. |

Neil Douglas has over 20 years experience in the offshore oil and gas industry, primarily in the subsea controls and downhole disciplines. In 2007, he started Viper Subsea to provide engineering and equipment supply services to the subsea and offshore wind turbine industries. Previously he worked for GE Vetco Gray in a range of technical and management roles, culminating in the position of global technical director for control systems.
Bil Loth has 38 years' experience in design, engineering, and management of subsea development projects. His career has included positions with Esso Production Research (now Exxon Upstream Research), Exxon USA, Esso Europe, and Shell Expro Central Engineering, where as head of Subsea Engineering he was responsible for prospect evaluation and front-end engineering for all subsea developments, including Osprey and Gannet. Since 1986 his consultancy, WD Loth and Company, has provided subsea engineering expertise on world-class development projects for major clients in the USA, Europe, and West Africa, including conceptual field engineering, technical audits, and field development support for Ramco, Enterprise, British Gas, Occidental and others; and field development and concept selection guidelines for Shell. In 2001 ExxonMobil Development Company assigned Bil as the lead engineer for their Erha subsea systems concept selection and design development.
Keith Anderson, a senior consultant, joined MCS in 1999, mostly based in Aberdeen. Most of his experience has been on the design and analysis of top tensioned, drilling and flexible risers. He has been project manager for MCS on most recently on the detailed design for Nexen’s Ettrick development (2006); BHPB Pyrenees Conceptual Riser Design (2005 / 2006); and VetcoGray’s Snøvhit Completions / Workover riser (2004/2006).
Steve Sasanow has been editor of Subsea Engineering News since its birth in 1984. In addition to being one of the leading offshore technology writers - he has contributed to almost every offshore magazine in print - Steve has carried out consultancy work for many of the leading operators and supply sector companies, including BP, Total, Statoil, Marathon, Soekor, McDermott, Subsea Offshore and others.
Ivar Iversen was the founder of flow assurance specialist Prospect and currently holds the post of technical director. A graduate in civil engineerings from Imperial College, he has been involved in the development of computational flow dynamics and finite element analysis applications for subsea thermal engineering and optimising separation systems.
Steve Fenton, who has been with Vetco Gray since 1986, is an engineer responsible for R&D activities across the spectrum of subsea production systems engineering. He has a broad understanding of the total system needs for offshore field development, including influences, system boundaries and interfaces, complemented by a depth of understanding in key associated subsystems.
